Former New York Giants tight end, Jeremy Shockey, could be facing jail time for unpaid alimony to his ex-wife.

Daniela Cortazar, who was married to Shockey for just eight months after the couple wed in May of 2012, is seeking temporary spousal support as well as lawyer fees, according to TMZ. However, the former Pro Bowler claims their prenup is “airtight,” thus relieving him of any financial obligation to his former spouse.

Cortazar believes her ex-husband is withholding information regarding his finances and will not provide the documents to prove how much he is worth. As a result, she has asked a Florida judge to punish Jeremy — via fines or jail time — for his transgressions.

According to the Miami Herald, Shockey met the Colombian-born Cortazar during a brief vacation in South America. The two got engaged sometime around Easter in 2012 and wed during a small, private ceremony in Miami, Fla. on May 18, per Busted Coverage.

The tight end filed for divorce in January, claiming that their union was “irretrievably broken.” A source for the Miami Herald has confirmed that the two only knew each other for a short period of time and may have rushed into the marriage.

The 32-year-old free agent played for 10 seasons in the NFL, including six with the Giants. He last played for the Carolina Panthers in 2011. A two-time Super Bowl champion, Shockey logged a total of 6,143 receiving yards and 37 touchdowns.
