New York Giants running back Da’Rel Scott could miss the next few weeks due to a strained hamstring, according to his agent Chitta Mallik (h/t Ian Rapoport).
Scott suffered the injury late in the Giants’ game against the Chicago Bears on Thursday night. He finished the game with four carries for 17 yards.
The former seventh-round draft pick was re-signed this week after being released a week ago, to add depth with starter David Wilson out with a neck injury.
With Wilson’s status for Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football uncertain, the Giants currently have two healthy backs on the roster—Brandon Jacobs and rookie Michael Cox. Jacobs started Thursday against the Bears and rushed 22 times for 106 yards and a touchdown.
Andre Brown, currently on injured reserve, is not scheduled to return until Week 10 from a fractured leg he suffered during a preseason game against the New England Patriots. Before the season, he was expected to share time in the backfield with Wilson. The Giants desperately await his return now.
