According to the New York Daily News’ Ralph Vacchiano, the New York Giants have come to terms on a trade with the Carolina Panthers to acquire linebacker Jon Beason.
I’m told the Giants will send a late-round pick to the Panthers (and old friend Dave Gettleman) in return for Beason. #NYG

The deal is done pending a physical that should take place Friday, per Vacchiano.
Beason, a three-time Pro Bowler, has only appeared in five games over the last two seasons because of injuries. After being the team’s starting middle linebacker since 2007, he lost the job to former Giant Chase Blackburn two weeks ago before the Panthers’ 38-0 rout of the G-Men.
The 28-year-old is due $1 million for this year, which should just fit into the Giants’ limited salary cap space. His contract will void at the end of the season.
