7358 Ice Buckets Ready RS ST

Everybody is doing it. Even the owner of the Washington Redskins.

Every other post that you see on Facebook has a status that says: “I’d like to thank so-and-so for nominating me for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge…” accompanied by a video of that person taking a deep breath (or, in a few cases, a shot of tequila), dumping a bucket of ice water over their heads and then nominating someone else. In fact, since July 29, $5.5 million has been raised to fight Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis — or Lou Gehrig’s disease — compared to the same time last year.

Social media has definitely increased the tendency of things like this to go viral and, in the big scheme of things, no one should be surprised that eventually, more famous and/or high-profile people, like Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder and his President and General Manager Bruce Allen, would get involved. Today, NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt, Jr. issued the “Ice Bucket Challenge” to Snyder and the owner rose to the challenge. Along with Snyder and Allen; head coach Jay Gruden, public relations Sr. V.P. Tony Wyllie and former Redskins QB and NFL analyst Joe Theismann participated as well.

Ice Bucket Challege Fulfilled!
Ice Bucket Challege Fulfilled!

The fun began after Friday morning’s practice when the four men gathered on the field with the team around them. They issued their own nominations as offensive lineman Trent Williams and receivers Santana Moss and DeSean Jackson, among others, picked up huge Gatorade buckets filled with water and ice, poised to dump it over the challeng-ee’s heads.

7360 Ice Bucket Challenge - That is COLD RS STSnyder nominated arch enemy and Dallas Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones. Gruden nominated Redskins’ former head and Hall-of-Fame coach Joe Gibbs. Theismann nominated former Dallas Cowboy quarterback Roger Staubach. Wyllie nominated his Dallas Cowboys counterpart, Rich Dalrymple. And Allen? Well… Allen nominated the entire Washington Redskins cheerleading squad.

Hail.
