Along with every team in the National Football League, the Washington Redskins were in heavy evaluation mode in Friday nights 30-20 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens. There were several players that needed to answer the call and have a formidable performance and running back Rob Kelley did just that.

Kelley looked decisive in the running game even showing a level of consistency that hadn’t been seen in the preseason. The New Orleans native had 11 carries for 49 yards, averaging 4.5 yards per attempt. With the logjam at running back especially with the addition of Adrian Peterson, Kelley needed a strong performance if he wanted to be considered for the final 53 man roster.

Many will try and downplay his performance because he was playing mainly against backups, but the Tulane star played like the starter many feel he can be. His ability to make quick decisions and an attacking style were on full display.

There is no doubt that the Redskins coaching staff and front office have some difficult decisions to make in reducing their roster from 90 to 53 men by 4 pm today.
