The Washington Redskins announced that they have signed free-agent running back Mack Brown to their practice squad.

The former Florida product was with the Redskins on their active roster and practice squad from 2015 through 2017. He quickly became a fan favorite because of his preseason production and propensity for big runs that showed his power and speed.

Brown’s star moment came in a preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a heavy downpour. During that game, Brown ran for 149 yards. Last year with the Redskins, Brown rushed for 29 yards on eight carries and also pulled in one reception. In 2016, Brown rushed for 82 yards. 61 of those yards came in a touchdown run against the Chicago Bears.

Brown, 27, was waived as injured by the Minnesota Vikings on September 1st. He wasn’t claimed and went on the Vikings injured reserve. He was waived after the Vikings reached an injury settlement.

Brown now gives the Redskins an available back on the practice squad and a player barring an injury to the active roster players can come in and fully know the team’s playbook.
