After facing two heartbreaking road losses, the Washington Wizards returned to Capital One Arena on Monday with a win over the Sacramento Kings 121-115 in their first game of a five-game homestand. The Kings made a late fourth-quarter run but the Wizards were ultimately able to hold them off.
“We had some experience the last two games playing close games,” Coach Scott Brooks said. “I thought we executed down the stretch, we got the stops that we needed.”
With the Wizards fighting for their playoff lives, this stretch of home games might be their last hope of making it into the postseason. On Wednesday night, they will face the Orlando Magic, a conference opponent and one of the teams they’re looking to get ahead of in the eastern conference standings.
The #Wizards defeated the #Kings 121-115. The sentiment from the team after the game is that they are still in the playoff hunt and every game is a “must-win.” Here’s more in my Wizards ‘Fast Break’ postgame wrap up. #WizKings #DCFamily #NBA pic.twitter.com/qCj6gPUop0
