With only three games left in the season and the playoffs out of reach, the Washington Wizards are beginning to look ahead to next year. In the Wizards 114-115 loss to the Chicago Bulls, Coach Scott Brooks opted to increase the minutes of the bench players to evaluate his younger talent. Jordan McRae, Chasson Randle, Troy Brown, Jr., and Sam Dekker led the way for most of the second half. Starters Bradley Beal, Tomas Satoransky, and Bobby Portis all saw less than 30 minutes of play on Wednesday night.
“Chasson [Randle] played more minutes than normal, and Jordan [McRae] also”, Brooks said. “These are guys that we have to take a look at and make decisions going forward. But we gave a lot of guys opportunities. Troy [Brown Jr.], he didn’t play well, but that’s the next step is just staying consistent. He didn’t have a good game, hopefully, he bounces back next game.”
Bradley Beal scored 15 points in the first quarter where he saw most of his minutes. He rested most of the second half but not before becoming the first player in franchise history to log 2,000 points, 400 rebounds, and 400 assists.
