NBA All-Star John Wall and the John Wall Family Foundation (JWFF) hosted their six consecutive Back to School Backpack Giveaway on Saturday in Capital Heights, MD. The event was held at Dave & Buster’s for the first time since its inception.
“I think it’s just more fun for the kids to be able to play more games,” Wall said. “We try to add new things every year to our backpack giveaway but I think Dave & Buster’s is a great opportunity for these kids to just walk around, play a lot of games, have a lot of fun, and then get their school supplies.”
Wall provided 500 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade with backpacks filled with school supplies, such as pencils, notebooks, and folders. The foundation worked with various nonprofit organizations to select recipients for the giveaway.
After this year’s event, the JWFF will have donated over 6,500 backpacks to students in the Washington, D.C. and Raleigh, NC areas.

This is John Wall’s 6th Annual backpack drive so I asked him why he’s so committed: “To be able to play in DC where my dad is from and be able to give back is a big opportunity for me. I try as much as possible to keep my hands in the community and do a lot.” @JWFamFoundation pic.twitter.com/XwqObFlwGm
