Fans were long gone and there was silence across the Entertainment and Sports Arena when it was confirmed that the Washington Mystics clinched the number one seed in the WNBA playoffs. The Mystics went into the matchup controlling their own destiny, picking up their fifth straight win with an 86-73 victory over the Dallas Wings.
When the game ended, the Mystics were still in a tight race with the Connecticut Sun for full control of the number one seed. Shortly after, the Sun loss to the Chicago Sky which solidified homecourt advantage for the Mystics throughout the playoffs. Washington has a double bye and will see their first action during the semifinals round of the playoffs.
Washington will play their final regular season game at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday against the Chicago Sky.
