The motto all season for the Washington Mystics has been ‘Run It Back’ as an ode to the team falling short last year in the WNBA Finals. Their chance at redemption started on Sunday afternoon with a 95-86 win against the Connecticut Sun in Game 1 of the 2019 WNBA Finals. The Mystics are now two games closer to a championship.

Game 2 will be pivotal for Washington as Connecticut looks to start with more intensity after falling short in their efforts to overcome the Mystics first quarter rally.
“It was a hard battle,” Connecticut Sun forward Shekinah Strickland said. “It was a tough game until the finish. We didn’t let up. There were times where we could have let up but we kept fighting. Let this game go, watch film, learn from it and get ready to come back on Tuesday.”
The Mystics were led by Elena Delle Donne with 22 points followed by Ariel Atkins (21 points), and Kristi Toliver (18 points).
