Kerrigan, 31, was injured against the Green Bay Packers in a return game after missing the previous week against the Carolina Panthers. The University of Purdue product had his streak of 139 straight games snapped when he missed action against the Panthers.
While speaking to the media at the INOVA Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park, interim coach Bill Callahan gave Kerrigan high compliments.
“All of these years and just observing him play, practice and prepare, I mention this a couple of weeks ago when he had his injury that he’s a consummate pro in every respect,” Callahan said of Kerrigan. “I know that he didn’t want to finish this year in this fashion, but it’s in the best interest of his health obviously to go this route right now.”

For his career, Kerrigan has amassed 90 sacks, 405 tackles (288 solo), three interceptions all for touchdowns, and 26 forced fumbles. He’s been a two-time Pro Bowl selection (2012 and 2016 seasons).
Kerrigan finishes the season 1.5 sacks away from passing Dexter Manley [91.0] as the all-time franchise leader. He is now top 50 all-time in sacks in NFL history [No. 48].
Wilson, 23, is a rookie out of UCLA. The 6’4″ 240-pound tight end was the last pick in the 2019 NFL Draft (seventh round, 254th overall). He is the son of Cardinals defensive assistant Chris Wilson.
