The Washington Mystics went into the season knowing that they were essentially a new team. It seemed like their shorthanded roster would cause a problem but so far, the team is off to a smooth start. In a rematch of the WNBA Finals, the Mystics took on the Connecticut Sun and came out on top with a 94-89 victory.
Coach Thibault noted that Washington started off playing sloppy basketball but after halftime adjustments, they came out stronger with Aerial Powers leading the way. In the season opener, it was Myisha Hines-Allen that shined. However, the Mystics are showing that on any given day, someone different is going to have to take on the lead role if they want to continue to improve their record.
Powers finished with 27 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Hines Allen and Ariel Atkins followed with 16 points a piece.

Myisha Hines-Allen said that the #Mystics feed off Aerial Powers’ energy so I asked her thoughts on knowing she has that indirect impact on her teammates. #ApplyPressure pic.twitter.com/HPD8RD4Mjw
