Monday morning, Redskins’ quarterback Robert Griffin, III tweeted that doctors have cleared him to practice when training camp starts this Thursday, July 25, down in Richmond, Va. Most of this entire offseason has been spent on “RGIII Knee Watch” as the quarterback worked to get himself rehabilitated after surgery to repair a torn ACL earlier this year.

The news that doctors have cleared him does not mean he will go out and begin normal drills however. While being cleared means he will not have to be put on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, he will “ease” into a full work schedule as head coach Mike Shanahan has been saying all offseason. Good news for his receivers is that, he will be able to throw to all of them. During minicamps and Organized Team Activities, he was throwing exclusively to other players that were rehabbing themselves.

This news should be no surprise to anyone following the team. Both the quarterback and his teammates have not hidden the fact that Griffin was way ahead of schedule in terms of his healing and his activities. I would not question anything the young man says. Many times he tweeted that he was doing well and here he is, on pace to open the season against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 9 on the biggest stage, Monday Night Football.

Wasn’t it Robert Griffin who predicted that after the Redskins bye last season, he would come back a better quarterback? He then proceeded to lead the team to a seven-game winning streak and the NFC East Championship.

Hail.
