The Washington Redskins announced today that they have made the following roster moves:

The Redskins signed free agent quarterback Connor Jessop and waived wide receiver Allenzae Staggers.

Jessop, 24, is from nearby Reston, Virginia and played his college ball at Virginia Tech as a walk-on before transferring to Shepherd University in West Virginia. He had a tryout with the Redskins back in the spring so the coaching staff is familiar with the Division II prospect.

The move was necessary with backup QB Colt McCoy nursing a hand injury sustained in the Redskins 29-17 loss on Thursday to the Denver Broncos.

Staggers played collegiately at Southern Mississippi and was added to the Redskins roster a week ago. The Redskins already have a tight situation at the WR position which makes it tough for players listed on the depth chart after six and seven to crack the position.
