The Washington Redskins have parted ways with defensive lineman Anthony Lanier II by releasing him designated as injured.

The third-year player out of Alabama A&M was expected to provide depth at defensive end for the Redskins new defensive line rotation.

Lanier, 25, recently missed practice with a hip flexor.

Over the past two seasons, the lineman had bulked up and showed promise last season by recording five sacks.

Lanier was an undrafted free agent back in 2016 but played well during training camp and preseason and made the Redskins final 53-man roster.
