The Washington Redskins defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 16-3, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday. The Redskins still hold a firm two-game lead in the NFC East division and will have a chance to extend their lead when they play the Houston Texans at FedEx Field on Sunday.

With the victory, the Redskins re-wrote several historical statistics and individual players put their names in the team record books.

Here are a few feats accomplished in the road win.

The Redskins moved their overall record to 6-3 in regular season play and are 6-2 against NFC opponents. With the win, Washington has recorded its best start to a season through nine games since posting a 6-3 record through nine games in 2008 and their best start against the NFC since 2005.

The Redskins improved to 3-1 on the road giving them their best road record to start a season since 2008.

The three points surrendered to the Buccaneers is the first time the Redskins have held their opponent to three or fewer points since defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, 10-3, on Dec. 21, 2008. Washington has now won 10 consecutive games in which it has held its opponent to three points or less.

The Redskins now hold an 11-10 all-time regular season record against Tampa Bay. It is Washington’s first win at Tampa Bay since defeating the Buccaneers, 24-22, on Sept. 30, 2012, on their last trip to Raymond James Stadium in regular season play.

The Redskins finished with a 2-2 record against the NFC South this season. The team also finished 2-2 against the NFC South the last time the NFC South and NFC East were matched up in 2015 when the team secured victories over Tampa Bay and New Orleans and lost contests to Atlanta and Carolina.

The Redskins forced four turnovers (2 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries) and have now forced a turnover for the 13th consecutive week dating back to last season. Washington currently holds the longest active streak in the NFL forcing at least one turnover. The last time the Redskins forced four or more turnovers in a game was during a 41-21 win at the Chicago Bears on Dec. 24, 2016, when they forced five turnovers. Washington has now recorded two games on the season in which it has forced three or more turnovers. Washington finished the 2017 season forcing three or more turnovers in two games.

Washington registered two sacks and have now recorded a sack for the 16th consecutive game. Barring the outcomes of today’s game and entering Week 10, the streak is tied for the sixth longest active streak in the league with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Quarterback Alex Smith completed 19-of-27 pass attempts for 178 yards and one touchdown (pass to WR Josh Doctson) and finished with a passer rating of 100.5. With his touchdown pass, Smith (193) enters the top 50 on the NFL’s all-time passing touchdowns list, passing No. 50 Bob Griese (192).

Wider receiver Maurice Harris finished with a team-high five receptions for 52 yards (10.4 avg.). Harris has now led the Redskins in receptions in back-to-back games.

Defensive lineman Matt Ioannidis recorded a sack and now has a team-high 7.5 sacks on the season. Ioannidis has now recorded a full sack in three consecutive weeks for the second time in his career and second time this season.

Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan started his 121st consecutive regular season game, the longest active streak among active NFL linebackers. Kerrigan has not missed a start in his NFL career.

Linebacker Preston Smith tallied one sack-forced fumble and registered three tackles. The sack and forced fumble are Smith’s first of the season.

Cornerback Josh Norman finished with one pass defensed and one interception. The interception is Norman’s second on the season. The last time Norman had two or more interceptions on the season was in his first year with the Redskins in 2016.

Cornerback Greg Stroman recorded his first career interception and finished with five solo tackles. With Stroman’s interception, a Redskins rookie defensive player has recorded at least one interception since 2012.

Kicker Dustin Hopkins (23) connected on all three field goal attempts and with his 43-yard field goal in the first quarter now ranks fifth all-time in franchise history in field goals between 40-49 yards passing Graham Gano (21).

Punter Tress Way tallied 247 yards on five punts (49.4) for a 47.8 net average landing four inside the 20-yard line. The 49.4 yards per punt average is his highest on the season.
