The Washington Redskins face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in their fifth home game of the season. Washington is 3-1 at home this season. The Redskins have won three consecutive home games after a Week 2 home opening loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Those three FedEx Field wins have come against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3, a Week 6 win against the Carolina Panthers, and a Week 7 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

The Redskins enter the game with a record of 5-2 after last Sunday’s third straight win since a Week 5 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons come into the Week 9 contest with a disappointing 3-4 record.

The Redskins are looking to improve their record to 6-2 and give Washington its best start to a season since starting 6-2 during the 2008 campaign.

Sunday’s contest will be the Redskins seventh NFC matchup of the season. A win would also increase the Redskins record against the NFC to 6-1 on the season. A win would also continue the Redskins first-place standing atop the NFC East division which they have led outright over the past four weeks.

In the last meeting between Washington and Atlanta on Oct. 11, 2015, the Falcons defeated the Redskins 25-19.
