The Washington Wizards announced today that they have added free agent forward Okaro White to the team’s roster.

White (6-8, 205) has averaged 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in 41 career games over the last two seasons (2016-18) with the Miami Heat. Undrafted out of Florida State (2013-17), he averaged 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for the Seminoles.

The Brooklyn, NY, native appeared in 23 games for the Sioux Falls Skyforce (Miami Heat Affiliate) of the NBA G League during the 2016-17 season and averaged 18.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.

The announcement to acquire White comes after the Wizards assigned their first-round draft pick Troy Brown, Jr. to the Capital City Go-Go for tonight’s game against Canton.

“He hasn’t gotten hardly any playing time,” Coach Scott Brooks said. “This is a good opportunity for him to be with them tonight, then come back to us tomorrow. We’re going to more than likely have him play Sunday [with the Go-Go] again if I have my dates correct. It gives him a good opportunity to get some playing time.”

Brown, Jr. has appeared in eight of the Wizards 17 games so far this season. He is averaging 2.5 points per game and 1.3 rebounds.

The addition of White brings the Wizards’ roster to 14, not including two-way players Devin Robinson and Jordan McRae.
