The Washington Redskins have hired one of their former safeties and defensive coaching interns, Kyshoen Jarrett, full-time as the team’s defensive quality control coach.

A sixth round selection (181st overall) by the team in 2015, Jarrett had an encouraging rookie year. He appeared in 16 games (five starts) and recorded 57 tackles (38 solo), four passes defensed and a forced fumble before suffering a spinal cord injury in the season finale against the Dallas Cowboys. Before being injured, the former VA Tech defensive back looked to have all the makings of an NFL starter in his future.

Last season, Jarrett could be seen on the practice field frequently as he spent the season coaching and working with the nickel corners as an intern.

“Kyshoen was a valuable asset to our coaching staff last season,” Head Coach Jay Gruden said. “He is a quality coach and a quality person and I have complete trust in him succeeding in this new role.”

Quite a few folks are happy that Kyshoen will be a more permanent fixture out at Redskins Park.
