The Washington Redskins were defeated by the Green Bay Packers, 20-15, on Sunday dropping their record to 3-10 on the season. The Redskins came into the contest looking to win three straight for the first time this season and also win three straight over the Packers.

Green Bay (10-3) came out fast and took a 14-0 lead. The Redskins as they have been accustomed to doing over the past several weeks battled and actually made a game of the contest in the second half. The Packers’ talent level, however, was too much in the end for the Redskins.

The Redskins were dealt blows in the contest with injuries to starting outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan who was returning to action after missing last week’s game against the Carolina Panthers. That missed game snapped Kerrigans 139 game streak of not missing a contest in his career.

Running back Derrius Guice who just a week before against the Panthers rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns took a hit to his knee after a 23-yard return and did not return to game action. The former LSU star has had his brief NFL career curtailed to injuries. He tore his ACL in his first-ever preseason game last year against the New England Patriots and tore his meniscus in the Redskins regular-season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles this year.

The Redskins are awaiting the return of a scheduled MRI on Guice to see the extent of the injury.

Washington will return to FedexField for their final two consecutive home contests against divisional foes, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. The Redskins will close out their 2019 campaign on the road against the Dallas Cowboys.

In the loss to the Packers, the Redskins re-wrote several historical statistics and individual players put their names in the team record books.

Here are a few feats accomplished in the Week 14 road loss:

OFFENSE

Quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. threw for 170 yards on 16-of-27 passing with a touchdown. The 16 completions are the second-most of his career [19, Week 11].

Running Back Adrian Peterson had 76 yards on 20 carries and one touchdown. Peterson [14,036] now has over 14,000 rushing yards and is one-of-six backs to reach that mark in NFL history. The former Oklahoma star [16,357] is now No. 12 on the NFL’s all-time scrimmage yardage list, passing Tony Dorsett [16,293].

Peterson added to his impressive resume performing in Green Bay. The future Hall of Famer has eight rushing touchdowns at Lambeau Field which is the most by any opposing player in NFL history. Peterson has 1,975 yards against the Packers, behind only Hall of Famers Barry Sanders [2,059] and Walter Payton [2,484] and has 16 rushing touchdowns against the Packers, second-most all-time behind Payton [19].

Running Back Chris Thompson [205] now has over 200 receptions in his career and is the third back in franchise history to reach that mark [Larry Brown, 238; Brian Mitchell, 232].

Wide Receiver Terry McLaurin posted 57 yards on four catches with a touchdown. The six touchdown receptions this season ties him with the second-most by a rookie in franchise history [Hugh Taylor, 1947; Chris Cooley, 2004]. The Ohio State product now has eight 50+ yard receiving games, tying a franchise record for a rookie.

DEFENSE

The Redskins defense finished with four sacks and have nine straight games with at least two sacks, tying their fourth-longest streak of all-time. It is their longest streak since Week 4-Week 13 of the 1995 season.

The defense has at least four sacks in three straight games for the first time since Week 15-Week 17 of 2015. It is tied for their five-longest streak in franchise history.

The Redskins have recovered a fumble in four straights games.

Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan recorded one tackle, one tackle for loss, one sack and one quarterback hit before exiting the game with an injury. Kerrigan [90.0] is 1.5 sacks away from passing Dexter Manley [91.0] as the all-time franchise leader. Kerrigan is now top 50 all-time in sacks in NFL history [No. 48].

Linebacker Cole Holcomb registered seven tackles (six solo) and added two tackles on special teams. Holcomb is the first Redskins rookie to post 80 tackles in a season since LaRon Landry [95] in 2007. He is the sixth in franchise history.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Kicker Dustin Hopkins connected on a 52-yard field goal in the third quarter which now gives him (10) 50+ yard field goals in his career. The feat places Hopkins second behind Mark Mosley (12) for the most made 50-yard field goals made in franchise history.
