The Stuart S. Siegel Center was sold out as the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams played host to the Davidson Wildcats. VCU is coming off a tough road loss to the Rhode Island Rams. The White and Yellow got back in the win column against Davidson 73-62.

The defensive intensity of VCU was on full display in the first half. Davidson averages 11 turnovers a game but VCU forced them into 11 turnovers in the first 10 minutes. There was a collective effort by the Rams to knock off Davidson out of rhythm.

Senior guard De’Riante Jenkins had a team-high five steals in the first half. With great instincts and anticipation, Jenkins was able to capitalize off some Davidson miscues.

Davidson went on a 12-0 run late in the first half and cut the VCU lead to one. However, the Rams then took a 35-20 halftime lead.

In the second half, VCU extended the lead to 20 and seemingly put this game on ice.

Davidson cut the lead to seven in the second half and forced VCU into some sloppy turnovers. Junior guard Kellan Brady spearheaded the comeback and led his team with 27 points.

Senior guard Marcus Evans led the charge for VCU to close out this game. Following a late Jenkins three-point play, VCU won the game 73-62.

Evans led the team in scoring. Jenkins had 15 points.

The win moves VCU to 17-6 and 7-3 in the Atlantic-10. The loss moves Davidson to 11-11 and 5-5 in conference play.

VCU will host George Mason Wednesday, Feb. 12. Davidson will host Fordham Tuesday, Feb. 11.
