The Washington Football Team announced today that they have placed starting Pro Bowl right guard, Brandon Scherff, on the Reserve/Injured list.

Scherff, 28, was injured in Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals with an MCL sprain. He is expected to miss the next three to four weeks with the injury.

The injury to the former Iowa All-American is a big blow to a unit that has struggled to find a rhythm to start the 2020 campaign.

Scherff is one of the NFL’s best guards but has seen his share of injuries over his six-year career. Over the past two seasons, the former Outland Trophy winner has been placed on the injured reserve list twice with a torn pectoral and elbow and shoulder injuries.

Scherff will be a highly valued free agent after the season. Washington placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Scherff back in April.

Washington also promoted wide receiver Cam Sims from the practice squad to fill the open roster spot created by Scherff’s injury.
