We call it fantasy football because what happens on the field and paper does not correlate with the Washington Football Team.

Most people would read the headline and laugh out loud.

“Who wants to put one of these guys in the lineup?”

As always, the caveat is the same. I don’t expect you to spend a ton of salary cap money on any of these picks, nor do I think anyone is poised for a 30-point game. However, one of these players could be the difference between a win or a loss (if it’s a tight game).

1. RB Antonio Gibson

Gibson is slowly becoming the lead dog in running back-by-committee Washington has going on so far. Once again, he led the team in touches (with 12), rushes (9), and yards on the ground (49). Also, he scored a touchdown.

My league scoring is pretty basic, but he would have picked up a tidy 11 points. Not bad for an RB3 or a FLEX pick.

Baltimore’s defense is giving up an average of 107 yards a game on the ground. Let’s face it; you think Scott Turner wants Dwayne Haskins to throw the ball 40 times? The game plan has to keep Lamar Jackson off the field, which means chewing up the clock on the ground.

2. TE Logan Thomas

I am fully aware that Thomas will not replace Travis Kelce in the nation’s football zeitgeist at the tight end position.

Fantasy football is about matchups and targets. The only person with more marks last week than Thomas was Terry McLaurin. Thomas was thrown to seven times and hauled in four of them when Haskins wasn’t very accurate. If Washington gets into the red zone, Haskins will be looking for the former quarterback from Virginia Tech.

3. WR Isaiah Wright

Again, it’s about targets, in Wright’s case, six last week. Washington needs someone to emerge opposite McLaurin. Dontrelle Inman looks to be less than 100% this week, so Wright’s door is open to get more snaps. He only had 24 yards last week, but he’s fast and doesn’t need a lot of room to break loose.

Happy playing. Go forth and dominate this weekend!
