Heading into Week 4 of the NFL season, it’s surprising to say this but, the Washington offense isn’t so bad. At least not fantasy-wise. The reality is another story, but we aren’t dealing with reality in this space, so here are some late-week picks you might want to consider.

Tight End, Logan Thomas

The Virginia Tech quarterback turned tight end is a legitimate TE1 in the league now. Even the fumble which led to a Buffalo touchdown last week was impressive, given he broke three tackles before coughing the ball up.

It’s no surprise that Thomas is Washington’s top option in the passing game next to Terry McLaurin. Amongst tight ends, Thomas ranks fifth for most routes run this season, and the company he keeps is impressive. Only Darren Waller, T.J. Hockenson, Travis Kelcie, and Kyle Pitts have run more routes than Thomas.

Atlanta Tight End, Kyle Pitts

The rookie from Florida could be a scary matchup for the Burgundy and Gold. His athletic ability coming out of college is well documented. Granted, he only had three targets last week but anyone who has watched Washington’s All-22 tape can see that pass coverage, especially underneath, is a mess right now. It’s hard to believe Matt Ryan won’t look for a big target who can run up some impressive yards-after-catch numbers.

Running Back, Antonio Gibson

Think the Falcons might be looking for the screen pass this week?

This week, Pro Football Focus has Gibson as a top 10 (or just outside) running back pick, and it’s easy to see why. He reminded everyone what a threat he was in the passing game last week with a nifty 73-yard touchdown.

The Washington defense needs all the help it can get right now, so how do you keep a defense fresh?

Give it time to breathe with some long drives of your own. That’s where Gibson comes in. Look for him to get a lot more action this week as the offense tries to control the clock and limit the amount of self-inflicted damage the defense can do, at least until it figures out why it keeps blowing assignments in the secondary, flats, and the line.
