Always close but not close enough has been the name of the game for the Washington Mystics this season. That championship magic they possessed in 2019 has been tough to find again after COVID altered the 2020 season.

Although the Mystics battled through injuries and inconsistent lineups most of the year, they still had a chance to make it into the playoffs with a win over the Minnesota Lynx in front of their home crowd at the Entertainment & Sports Arena. However, the Mystics spent most of the game playing from behind which resulted in an 83-77 loss to end their season.
