Week one of the fantasy football season is always unpredictable, making fantasy owners question why they are even playing the game. Week 1 should be called the week ‘of the unheralded,’ as many fantasy owners had more points on their bench than they had in their lineup.

Week two presents a similar challenge. The competition around the league has been stout as many teams are still trying to establish identity. However, we have a week worth of stats that can give team owners a gauge on how they should assemble their rosters.

To follow are two Washington Commanders you should highly consider putting in play as they take on the Detroit Lions this Sunday at Ford Field.

 1).  QB Carson Wentz

Many within the fantasy world were not high on Commander’s quarterback Carson Wentz. Aside from the two interceptions, Washington’s new signal caller had a solid opening day putting up over 35 fantasy points. For the First time since originally injuring his knee with the Eagles back in 2017, Wentz threw for four touchdown passes.

In Week 2, the North Dakota State product has a favorable matchup against a Lions defense that ranks 30th in opponent yards per game allowing 455 yards of total offense. With Washington seeming to have many weapons for Wentz to distribute the ball to, coupled with a solid running game, Wentz is a must-start in Week 2.

2). RB Antonio Gibson

In his season debut, Gibson received a heavy workload, showing the world that he is still capable of being the Commanders lead back. In week one the versatile running back had 21 touches and 130 total yards. Gibson did average 4.1 yards per catch, but what was most impressive was his ability to make plays in the passing game.

Gibson is a must-start in Week 2 as he will be facing a defense that surrendered 22 rushing attempts for 126 yards and three TDs to running backs in Week 1.
