The Washington Commanders once again got off to a rocky start. To start their Week 2 contest, the Denver Broncos were dominating the Commanders offensively and defensively.

Washington’s offense struggled to keep quarterback Sam Howell clean.  On the other side, opposing QB Russell Wilson on his first three possessions carved up Jack Del Rio’s defense and Washington found themselves down 21-3.

However, on the fourth offensive possession for the Broncos, defensive end Chase Young would be the disrupter that the Commanders needed. Young’s pressure flushed Wilson out of the
pocket where linebacker Jamin Davis would cause a strip sack which was recovered by fellow linebacker Cody Barton.

After that momentum-shifting turnover, the former Ohio State product’s elite speed off the edge began to have a major effect on collapsing the Broncos offensive lines’ pocket. The events created one-on-one situations for guys like Daron Payne, Jonathon Allen, and Montez Sweat to make plays.

“I’m just feeling blessed,” Young said. “Been a long time for me. It was just a blessing to be running around on the field.”

Because of his relentless pursuit, the Upper Marlboro, Maryland native got his first sack of the year and his first since November of 2021.

In the Commander’s’ 35-33 win over the Broncos, Young had multiple pressures, three combined tackles, and one-and-a-half sacks on the day.
