The Washington Commanders hit the road this weekend and travel to New England for a clash against the Patriots. The game marks the fifth road contest for the Commanders. Washington made two massive trades before the NFL trade deadline in dealing away popular players Chase Young and Montez Sweat. The moves signal a change at the top with new owner Josh Harris and his ownership group wanting better results on the field.

The Commanders have two wins on the road this season that came against the Denver Broncos (Week 2) and the Atlanta Falcons (Week 6).

Their lone win was the season opener at home against the Arizona Cardinals.

Kickoff against New England is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.

Washington is in desperate need of a win. Defeating the Patriots would move the team’s record to 4-5 on the season. A loss intensifies the fanbase’s discussions even further about possible coaching changes during the season.

The Patriots come into the game struggling and with a record of 2-6.

The Commanders were defeated last week by the Philadelphia Eagles 38-31. The game was competitive as quarterback Sam Howell threw for 396 yards and four touchdowns. Unfortunately for the Commanders, their defense surrendered 21 fourth-quarter points that enabled the Eagles the comeback victory.

Washington’s all-time record against New England is 6-5. The team’s last played back on 10/6/2019 at FedEx Field. A game the Patriots won 33-7. Washington’s last win over New England was on 9/28/2003 in a home 20-17 win.
