Commanders Injury Report: Washington at Full Strength for Week 1 vs. Giants

ASHBURN, Va. — Friday’s final Washington Commanders injury report confirmed that the five players who appeared earlier in the week — defensive end Dorance Armstrong (knee), wide receiver Noah Brown (knee), cornerback Jonathan Jones (hamstring), kicker Matt Gay (illness), and quarterback Marcus Mariota (Achilles) — have all been cleared. None received a game designation, leaving Washington with a fully healthy 53-man roster.

Armstrong worked back after being limited early in the week, while Brown and Jones sat out Friday for scheduled rest but remain available. Gay and Mariota both practiced in full and are expected to suit up without restrictions.

Washington enters Week 1 with the advantage, and it starts in the trenches. The Giants are dealing with uncertainty up front, with left tackle Andrew Thomas likely sidelined. Losing their best lineman against a Washington front seven built to control games puts added pressure on a New York offense still gelling under first-year quarterback Russell Wilson. By contrast, the Commanders have every piece available, giving Dan Quinn and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury the chance to unveil the schemes they’ve been building throughout the offseason.

The clean bill of health gives Washington maximum flexibility as the Quinn era begins. With depth across the roster and a defensive front that remains the team’s anchor, the Commanders will have a full complement of options as they try to set the tone in a divisional matchup.

Kickoff against the Giants is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
