The Washington Commanders’ season may have reached its breaking point. In the latest episode of Commander Daily, Bob Matthews says the team’s playoff hopes are “essentially over” after a 38-4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night.
Rookie quarterback Jaden Daniels suffered his third injury of the year late in the fourth quarter, leaving with his left arm in an air cast. Matthews questioned why Daniels was still in the game but placed most of the blame on Washington’s offensive line, which allowed constant pressure.
Seattle dominated from start to finish, scoring three touchdowns in four minutes during the second quarter. The Commanders’ defense — especially the secondary — gave up big plays to lesser-known receivers while failing to stop the bleeding.
Matthews also called out general manager Adam Peters for doubling down on an aging roster and mishandling the Terry McLaurin holdout that derailed training camp. With the team now 3-6, Matthews says the focus must shift toward 2026.
