NFL: Jalen Carter’s Suspension Served, Will Forfeit One Game Check

NEW YORK — Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter has been suspended one game without pay for unsportsmanlike conduct, the NFL announced Tuesday.

Carter was disqualified before playing a snap in last Thursday’s season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. Because of that, the suspension is considered to have been served in Week 1, and he will forfeit his game check.

The NFL Players Association informed the league that Carter will not appeal the discipline. He is eligible to return when the Eagles face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2.

“League rules prohibiting unsportsmanlike conduct are of vital importance to everyone involved in the game,” the NFL said in its release. The league also reiterated that sportsmanship will be a point of emphasis this season, stressing that players, clubs, and the NFLPA have all been made aware.

Carter, the Eagles’ 2023 first-round draft pick, has quickly become a key part of the defensive front. He will rejoin Philadelphia as they prepare for a high-profile matchup against the defending Super Bowl champions on Sunday.
