The Washington Redskins have announced that cornerback Josh Wilson has passed his physical exam and will now be fully activated from the PUP (Active/Physically Unable to Perform) list.

“I just wanted to set the record for the shortest PUP stay,” Wilson said on a chuckle after practice. “It’s a great record. I think my name should last for a long time. I wanted to get back out here. I had to prove that I was ready and I did what I had to do.”

In addition, the team announced that they have signed free agent safety Jose Gumbs and free agent cornerback Ryan Mouton. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Gumbs, 5’10”, 210 lbs., was originally signed by the New Orleans Saints as a college free agent on April 30, 2012. He was released by the Saints on Sept. 7, 2012, before being signed to the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad on Dec. 5. He was released by the Chiefs on May 13, 2013.

Gumbs played collegiately at Monmouth, where he was a four-year starter from 2008-11. He led the school in tackles in all four seasons and finished third in school history with 306 tackles (188 solo).

Gumbs, 25, attended at Hebron (Maine) Academy, where he led his team with 110 tackles and was named All-New England and the team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior. Prior to attending Hebron, he attended Martin Van Buren H.S. in Queens, N.Y. Gumbs was born on April 20, 1988.

Mouton, 5’ 9”, 184 lbs., was originally drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round (94th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. From 2009 to 2012, he appeared in 36 games with four starts for the Titans, compiling 56 tackles (41 solo), three passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumbles recovered, according to STATS, LLC. Last season, he played in 13 games and started the team’s season opener vs. New England and the team’s Week 7 game at Buffalo.

Mouton played collegiately at Hawaii from 2007-08 after beginning his career at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. In his senior season at Hawaii in 2008, the first-team All-WAC defensive back played in all 13 games and saw starts at cornerback, free safety and slotback in addition to handling kickoff return duties for the first half of the season.

Mouton, 26, attended Katy H.S. in Houston, Texas, where he was an all-area and all-state selection after leading his team to a 5A Division II state title as a wide receiver and cornerback as a senior. He was born on Sept. 23, 1986.
