The Washington Redskins 2018 offseason was productive. Depth and talent were added both through the draft (DLmen Daron Payne and Tim Settle) and via the crop of undrafted college free agents (WRs Cam Sims and Shay Fields). The team added a few free agents (WR Paul Richardson, LB Pernell McPhee and RB Adrian Peterson) who have yet to prove they belong in the nation’s capital but who seem adequate so far. Time will tell.

During training camp, as always, some of the less well-known guys flashed and garnered the attention of the coaches, the media and the fans. Some of the more well-known players solidified their starting spots and/or presence on the roster.

Friday, the Redskins host the Denver Broncos Friday for their third preseason game. This matchup is the favorite of many fans because it is when more starters play for a longer time than in other preseason contests.

With the NFL’s cut-down deadline fast approaching (4 p.m., Sept. 1), this third matchup is one during which guys will be evaluated not only for spots on the 53-man roster, but for the starting positions. Additionally, this game is one during which those watching will see just how ready the starters are to play in a regular season game with each other.

Beyond all of the above, the NFL’s third preseason game is valuable because fans have simply been without real football for a long seven months. Seeing the starters (and some of the promising talent) squaring off with starters from another team (as a change-up to practices and day-to-day news) is exciting, informative and different.

DL Jonathan Allen was productive during training camp but his name didn’t come up much in the excitement of rookie Daron Payne’s arrival. WR Josh Doctson made some amazing catches as well but with all the news of fellow wideout Cam Sims’ size and athleticism, Doctson wasn’t mentioned much either.

Which of the following Redskins players would you most like to see flash as Washington hosts Denver QB Case Keenum, WR Demaryius Thomas; and LBs Von Miller and Bradley Chubb Friday night?
