Fresh off of their second straight win and first on the road over an NFC opponent, the Washington Redskins will hit the road again and have a chance to impact the NFC playoff race when they face the Green Bay Packers. The Redskins are 3-9 on the season and have found success recently with the insertion of several of the teams’ young players.

After making the change to Bill Callahan who replaced Jay Gruden as an interim coach, Washington has become one of the best rushing teams in the NFL. Last week against the Carolina Panthers, the Redskins run game was led by Derrius Guice (129 yards and two touchdowns) and Adrian Peterson (99 yards and a touchdown).

Washington has allowed young players like quarterback Dwayne Haskins, Guice, and offensive lineman Geron Christian Sr., wideout’s Terry McLaurin, Steven Sims Jr., and Kelvin Harmon to take on bigger roles on offense. On defense, players such as rookie linebacker Montez Sweat, and third-year cornerback Fabian Moreau have stepped into more prominent roles with the benching of cornerback Josh Norman and injury (concussion protocol) to Ryan Kerrigan.

The Sunday contest against the Packers (9-3) will be the Redskins seventh road game of the season with losses already to the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, and Minnesota Vikings and wins over the Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers.

In the team’s last meeting on September 23, 2018, the Redskins defeated the Packers 31-17.

Redskins Punter Tress Way Honored as NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

What would a win over the Packers do for the Redskins from a statistical and historical standpoint?

A win would improve the Redskins overall record against the Green Bay Packers to 17-20-1.

A victory over the Packers would mark the first time that the Redskins won three consecutive games and also three straight over NFC opponents since Weeks 6-8 of the 2018 season. Those wins were over the Panthers (23-17), Dallas Cowboys (20-17) and New York Giants (23-13).

A ‘W’ would improve the Redskins record to 2-2 against the NFC North this season.

Winning would mark the second time in franchise history that Washington won three consecutive contests over Green Bay and would be the first time since 1974-79.

A win would give the Redskins consecutive road victories for the first time since Week 8 and 10 of the 2018 season.

Finally, a Redskins victory would improve their record to 4-4 since Bill Callahan was appointed Interim Head Coach.
